Marmorsaal, Schloss Mirabell
Baroque palace hall (civil ceremonies)Mirabellplatz, city centreUp to 170 in the hall; 25 upholstered chairs set out for the ceremony
Prince-Archbishop Wolf Dietrich built the palace in 1606 for Salome Alt, and a Baroque rebuild under Lukas von Hildebrandt in the 1720s added Georg Raphael Donner's angel staircase — the flight of steps couples climb on the way in. The hall itself is small and very tall: 150 square metres under a 10.5-metre ceiling of stucco and fresco, marble columns down the sides, and an 85-square-metre vestibule attached. There is no separate hire fee for an actual wedding, because the cost is folded into the marriage registration and the city sets it out plainly. Two practical limits worth knowing before you commit: the room permits no electronic amplification at all, and only twenty-five upholstered chairs are put out, so most of your party stands.
