1. Who we are
Wedvite is a digital wedding-invitation service operating at wedvite.net. We design, host, and deliver personalised online wedding invitations to couples primarily in Egypt and the wider Middle East. We are reachable at [email protected].
2. What data we collect
To deliver your invitation, we collect and process:
- Couple details — partner names, wedding date, start/end time, venue, language preference, design choice — that you provide directly via Instagram Direct Messages, our admin form, or the customer onboarding flow.
- Photos and mediayou send us (couple photos, venue images, design references, voice notes, short videos). Voice notes and video voice-overs are transcribed using OpenAI Whisper to extract spoken wedding details (e.g. couple names, venue address) when those details are not provided in text form.
- Instagram message content you send to our business account @wedvite.eg, including text, images, videos, voice notes, and shared posts. Messages are pulled in real-time via Instagram’s Messaging API (or our automation partner’s passthrough) so we can route the conversation, extract order details, and reply.
- Instagram public-profile fields visible to us by default once you message our business account: handle, first name as set by you in Instagram, profile picture URL, and your subscriber id within our automation provider. We do not request or store your phone number, email, or follower list.
- Payment confirmations— we receive screenshots of InstaPay receipts you send us. We store these as evidence of payment and to extract the deposit/total amount. We do not process payment cards directly; payment is between you and InstaPay.
- Guest messageson your invitation’s messages page — the names and messages your wedding guests choose to leave. These belong to your invite and are visible only to the couple via a private tokenised URL.
3. Why we collect it (lawful basis)
We process your data on the basis of:
- Performance of a contract — to design, host, and deliver the invitation you ordered.
- Legitimate interests — to operate the service, prevent abuse, and respond to support requests.
- Consent — when you voluntarily share Instagram DM content with us, you are consenting to its processing for the purposes described in this policy.
4. Instagram DM data — specific practices
Because the bulk of our customer interactions happen via Instagram, we want to be specific about how DM data is handled:
- Inbound messages are received in real time and stored in our private Supabase database alongside the customer identifier (your Instagram subscriber id) so we can build a conversation history.
- AI classification— we use Anthropic’s Claude API to classify the intent of each message (e.g. “welcome”, “asking for delivery time”, “payment received”, “needs admin”) so we can pick an appropriate templated reply. We send only the minimum text required for classification; we do not train any model on your data, and Anthropic does not retain it for training (per their commercial terms).
- Voice notes & videos— if you send voice or video, the audio track is transcribed via the OpenAI Whisper API. The transcript is stored as text in our database alongside the original media.
- Outbound repliesare sent through our automation provider (currently ManyChat’s Send Content API) which forwards the reply to your Instagram inbox.
- Admin handover— when our bot detects that a human admin has replied directly via Instagram or another tool, it auto-pauses for that conversation so the bot and admin do not talk over each other.
5. How long we keep it
- Active conversations— retained while your order is in progress and for up to 90 days after fulfilment, in case you request changes or revisions to your invitation.
- Wedding invitation page (public)— lives at
wedvite.net/<your-slug>indefinitely so you can share it with your guests. We will unpublish on request. - Guest messages— retained alongside the invite. Visible only to the couple via the private messages link.
- Payment screenshots — retained for 180 days as financial record, then deleted.
- Voice/video transcripts— retained alongside the source message for the same lifetime as the conversation.
6. Who we share data with
We share data only with these processors:

We never sell your data and we never share it with marketing or advertising third parties.
7. Your rights
You can at any time:
- Request deletionof all data tied to your Instagram subscriber id or your invitation slug — visit wedvite.net/data-deletion or email [email protected]. We will action the request within 30 days.
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correct any inaccurate data on your invitation by replying to us in the conversation thread.
- Unsubscribefrom our Instagram bot — just message STOP and we will pause replies and schedule deletion.
8. Security
We use industry-standard security: encrypted database connections (TLS 1.2+), service-role API keys stored as environment secrets, scoped Supabase row-level security, hashed admin passwords, and private storage buckets requiring signed URLs for access. Despite our efforts, no system is 100% secure; if we become aware of a breach involving your data we will notify you promptly.
9. Children’s privacy
Wedvite is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided data to us, contact [email protected] and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced on wedvite.net and to active customers via Instagram DM.
