Union Station Kansas City
Railway landmarkPershing Road, downtownGrand Plaza up to 2,000; planetarium 150; outdoor yards to 2
The Beaux Arts terminal still runs as a working public building, so a wedding here shares the campus with a science center, a planetarium and a model train gallery. The Grand Plaza — the restored North Waiting Room, sitting beyond the Grand Hall — takes up to 2,000 guests, the Arvin Gottlieb Planetarium seats 150 under a projected sky, and the open-air Haverty Family Yards stretch to 2,500. Settle two things before you fall for it: Brancato's is the exclusive caterer, so the food is not a competitive bid, and the rates are published rather than quoted — the Grand Plaza opens at $12,000 against $2,500 for the Yards.
