How to proofread a bilingual wedding invitation
Check names, dates, maps, RSVP wording and language switching before sharing a bilingual wedding invitation with your families.
Review each language as a complete guest experience, not just a translated headline. Names, dates, arrival times, addresses and the RSVP deadline must mean the same thing in every version. Ask a fluent reader from each audience to test the invitation independently.
Make a shared facts sheet
Keep one approved list of names, venues, times and deadlines. Write the month out where numeric dates might be ambiguous. Keep an official venue name and address that guests can recognise in a map app; a poetic translation can make the entrance harder to find. Check both language versions again after any schedule change.

Test meaning and layout separately
First ask whether the wording sounds natural and makes the invitation scope clear. Then inspect it on a narrow phone. Longer German words, Italian hosting phrases or a different writing direction can change line breaks. For Arabic, verify punctuation and mixed-language names in the actual preview rather than judging the text in a document alone.

Use it as a draft, then have a fluent person review personal names, cultural expressions and practical details. A grammatically correct sentence can still invite the wrong guests to the wrong event.
