The Standesamt's fees are separate from anything a venue charges, and they are small. Registering the marriage — the Eheanmeldung — costs €65, rising to €110 where the law of another country has to be applied, which is the usual case if one of you is not a German national. The ceremony is €45 at the registry office or €25 at any of the external Trauorte, and each marriage certificate is €20, whether you take the A4 version, the Stammbuch format or the multilingual one. Swearing in an interpreter, if you need one, is €35. Budget for the venue separately: that is where the real money goes.

Ceremonies at the Neues Rathaus on Marktplatz are held on Tuesdays and Fridays. Everything outside the Rathaus runs only from April to September, on a few published days per room: in 2026 the Panoramasaal in the Sparkassenturm had 19 June and 18 September, the Schmuckmuseum 12 June and 11 September, the Stadtmuseum Brötzingen 22 May and 2 October indoors and 17 July and 21 August in the open air. The Flößerstube and the Archäologisches Museum im Kappelhof are on the same official list but were given no 2026 dates at all. Crucially, the Standesamt only allocates and reserves a slot once a valid Eheanmeldung has been filed, and that registration is valid for six months — so the legal date firms up late. In Germany only a civil ceremony conducted by a Standesamt creates a marriage; a church service or a celebrant-led 'freie Trauung' at the Altes Kurhotel or the Hohenwart Forum has no legal effect on its own.
