Reception-only wedding invitation wording and examples
Write a clear invitation to the wedding reception or evening celebration, with the right arrival time and no ambiguity about the ceremony.
Name the reception or evening celebration explicitly and give its own arrival time. Avoid wording that invites recipients to witness the ceremony if they are not invited to it. Keep the same scope in the message, invitation page and RSVP question.
Choose words that match the actual event
‘Wedding reception’, ‘dinner celebration’ and ‘evening party’ can imply different experiences. Say what guests should expect, especially if they arrive after dinner. You do not need a long explanation of a private ceremony, but a short line can prevent confusion. Address the invited people by name and clarify additional guests privately when necessary.

Check every place the invitation appears
An evening-only WhatsApp message can still mislead if its link opens a page headed ‘Join our ceremony’ with an earlier time. Review the page title, schedule, map and response wording together. If ceremony guests need a different invitation, test both versions and maintain separate event counts. Do not assume one public link hides parts of the schedule for different recipients.

Example to adapt

Questions and answers
Must I explain why the ceremony is private?
No. A warm, clear invitation to the celebration is usually enough. If you mention the ceremony, keep the explanation short and avoid making the recipient feel like an afterthought.
Can the same RSVP question cover ceremony and reception?
Only when the recipient is invited to both and the response meaning is clear. Otherwise ask about the specific event and keep your counts separate.
