Practical guidance by Wedvite ·
A free Save the Date, ready for WhatsApp.
Give guests the date in the message itself, then add your published announcement link. They can open it in their browser and add the date to their calendar. You send through your own WhatsApp; Wedvite does not automatically message your contacts.
Free static Save the Date · No RSVP. Full invitation with RSVP available as a paid upgrade.
No credit card. Unlimited guests. Hosted through your wedding date and at least 90 days afterwards. Optional extras cost more.

Send the link, not just a screenshot
An image looks good in a conversation, but it cannot reflect an edit after someone saves it. Put the published link in the same message so guests can check current details. If you download the announcement image, treat it as a companion to the link, not the only source of information.
Make the first message useful without opening anything
Use both names, the date with the month written out, and the city if confirmed. Introduce yourselves when the recipient may not have your number saved. Send privately to each household when a group would reveal phone numbers or make the guest list awkward.
- Write ‘17 July 2027’, not an ambiguous numeric date.
- Use the published sharing link—never the private /edit/ link.
- Leave arrival times out until they are settled.
A sent message is not a confirmed guest
WhatsApp delivery indicators and link visits do not tell you who will attend. Keep a simple household list with ‘sent’ and ‘needs follow-up’ columns. Ask directly if an essential message may have been missed. When you need structured attendance and dietary replies, move to the paid invitation with RSVP.
Picture your announcement
Real static artwork from the free collection. These are design previews, not customer invitations. Animation and RSVP are not included in the free announcement.

For someone who may not know your number
Hi [name], it’s Jamie. Morgan and I are getting married on 17 July 2027! Here is our Save the Date: [published link]. We’ll send the timings and invitation later.
A recognizable introduction can matter more than a decorative image.
Before you share
- Check the date in the message matches the page and downloaded image.
- Open the public link while signed out of the editor.
- Choose recipients deliberately; do not start an unwanted group.
- Keep a non-WhatsApp option for guests who do not use it.
Your date is just the beginning.
Start with your announcement or create the full invitation now. Both begin with your design and your wedding details.

Your questions, answered
Is sharing on WhatsApp free?
Wedvite does not charge to publish or share the free Save the Date. Your usual internet or mobile-provider charges may still apply.
Do guests need a Wedvite account?
No. The published announcement opens in their browser. They do not need an editing account to read it.
Does Wedvite send WhatsApp messages for me?
No. You share the public link using your own messaging app. Copying or opening the share button does not prove that a message was delivered.
