Practical guidance by Wedvite ·
A new date. A clear message to every guest.
When a wedding moves, clarity matters more than a clever phrase. Lead with the change, name the new date and reach everyone who received the original. A free updated Save the Date can be the place guests check the confirmed information.
Free static Save the Date · No RSVP. Full invitation with RSVP available as a paid upgrade.
No credit card. Unlimited guests. Hosted through your wedding date and at least 90 days afterwards. Optional extras cost more.

Tell people promptly, even if the replacement date is pending
If the original date is no longer happening, let guests know through your usual contact channel. Do not leave them making plans while you wait for a polished announcement. If the new date is not confirmed, say exactly that. Publish a dated announcement only once the replacement is settled.
Replace the date everywhere guests might look
Edit the published announcement, check the date displayed and download a new image if you used one. Send a fresh message that identifies both the old and new dates. Calendar entries guests already saved may not change when you edit the page, so ask them to remove or update the old entry.
Follow up with households, not just a post
A social post or a page update is easy to miss. Work from your original recipient list and mark who has been told. Contact travelling guests directly if the change affects bookings. Acknowledge the inconvenience without promising refunds, hotel transfers or arrangements you cannot guarantee.
- Keep the reason brief unless you want to share more.
- Ask guests to check the updated date; that is not a formal RSVP.
- If you already collected attendance, reconfirm it for the new date through your invitation process.

New date confirmed
Our wedding date has changed. Please save 21 August 2027 instead of 17 July 2027. We are grateful for your understanding and hope you can still celebrate with us. Updated details: [published link]. Please update your calendar.
Check both dates carefully; keep the new date most prominent on the announcement.
New date still pending
Our wedding will no longer take place on 17 July 2027. We are arranging a new date and will contact you as soon as it is confirmed. Thank you for your patience and kindness.
Send this directly as a message; do not enter a guessed replacement date in the product.
Before you share
- Notify everyone who received the original, including offline guests.
- Check the public page, message and image all agree.
- Ask guests to replace any calendar entry they already saved.
- Reconfirm previous attendance separately; old answers may no longer apply.

Your questions, answered
Is change-the-date a separate paid product?
No. You can use the free Save the Date with your confirmed replacement date and an accompanying change message. The free page is not an automated notification service.
Will editing the page notify guests?
No. Share the update yourself. Editing a live page does not send a message or guarantee that guests change their calendars.
Can the free announcement reconfirm attendance?
No. The free announcement does not collect RSVP. Use a published paid invitation with RSVP when you need structured attendance replies.
