Château La Coste
Vineyard and art estateLe Puy-Sainte-Réparade, near Aix-en-ProvenceIndoor rooms 20–250 m²; outdoor spaces to 2,000
Two hundred hectares of vines, cypress, umbrella pine, olive and oak, with commissioned architecture set into the landscape rather than around it: Tadao Ando built the art centre and the café restaurant, Jean Nouvel designed the wine cellar. Couples hire either an interior room — they run from 20 to 250 square metres — or a stretch of the estate outdoors, where the rated ceiling is 2,000, so numbers are rarely the limiting factor. The art centre and its gardens can be taken privately depending on the guest list. This is the Provence venue for people who want architecture in the photographs instead of lavender.
