Egypt has no general civil-marriage route: marriages are contracted religiously — through a ma'zoun for Muslim couples, or in church for Christian couples — and foreign nationals are normally directed to their own embassy in Cairo or to the Ministry of Justice office handling marriages involving foreigners, with a certificate of no impediment from the embassy among the papers required. Restrictions also apply to interfaith marriages under Egyptian law. In practice most overseas couples complete the legal marriage at home first and treat the Cairo event purely as the celebration; confirm the current requirements with your own embassy in Cairo before planning around anything else.

October to April, on temperature alone — Cairo summers push into the high thirties and an outdoor reception in July or August stays uncomfortable well past sunset. The spring catch is the khamaseen, a dust-carrying wind that arrives intermittently from March into May and can haze over exactly the pyramid views that Giza venues are booked for. Thursday night is the traditional wedding night, since the Egyptian weekend is Friday and Saturday, so Thursday dates in the cool months are the first to go.

Two different pricing models, and comparing across them is where couples come unstuck. Treat all of it as a snapshot rather than a price list: the Egyptian pound has moved sharply and venues requote accordingly, so get the figure in writing and ask how long it is held.

Egyptians do, regularly. The Salah El-Din Citadel lets four separate spaces for private events, from Dar al-Darb at around 300 people up to the open-air Al Mahka square at 900, and the fee covers insurance, security and the shuttle between the public car park and the venue. It is a dry hire on antiquities-authority terms, so the approval path is longer than a hotel booking and you should confirm what the site permits — rigging, open flame, how late amplified music may run — before you design anything around it. Other archaeological sites have hosted events too, but availability there is decided case by case rather than published.

Large is ordinary here. Al Qahira at The Nile Ritz-Carlton alone seats 1,040 for dinner and takes 1,500 theatre-style, and several hundred guests is a normal Cairo list rather than a big one. For a Thursday inside the October-to-April window at one of the river hotels, nine to twelve months ahead is sensible, and longer for a date sitting near a public holiday. Because Ramadan removes a month from the calendar and shifts earlier each year, check where it falls in your year before fixing anything else.
