Plan on the legal marriage happening at home and the Alexandria event being the celebration. Egypt has no civil marriage route of its own — a marriage is concluded through a religious authority and registered with the state — and the paperwork for foreign nationals runs through their embassy or consulate and the Egyptian authorities in Cairo rather than through anything a hotel in Alexandria can arrange. Requirements vary sharply by nationality and by whether either partner is resident in Egypt, and several embassies no longer conduct marriages at all, so check with yours before you commit to dates. None of the venues on this list is a licensed ceremony location in the sense a British or Italian couple would expect.

Venues here quote per head with dinner included rather than charging a flat room-hire fee, so the guest list rather than the address drives the final figure. Ask each venue for a current per-head quote for your actual head count and date, and get the quote broken out — Egyptian hotels commonly add 14% VAT and a service charge of around 12% on top of the headline figure, which is where the unpleasant surprises live.

April to early June and late September into October. Alexandria gets more rain than anywhere else in Egypt and takes real Mediterranean storms from about November to March, so a garden or terrace booking in winter needs a full indoor fallback rather than a marquee and optimism. High summer is dry but humid, and it is also when Cairo decamps to the coast — from June to early September the corniche is congested, hotel rooms are scarce and expensive, and the better banqueting rooms go early.

Work back from two pressures. Weddings are generally not held during Ramadan, so the weeks after Eid al-Fitr are among the tightest in the calendar, and the summer holiday season stacks on top of that when the city fills with visitors. The very large rooms are the constraint: only a handful of Alexandria venues take a guest list in the high hundreds or beyond — the Al-Zahraa ballroom at Hilton Green Plaza and Symphony at the Radisson Blu, both quoted into the thousands, then the San Stefano Ballroom at the Four Seasons at 900, the combined Tabia halls at the Sheraton Montazah at 700, and the Qatr Al-Nada garden at El Salamlek at 1,000 outdoors. If your list is that size, start with the room and let the date follow it. Weddings of 100 to 200 have far more options and can be booked much later.
