Is a wedding website worth having for a UK wedding?

Most of what guests ask in the final month is practical: what time to be at the church or register office, whether the venue has parking, when carriages are, what the dress code means and which hotel is holding rooms. A wedding website answers those questions once, at one address, instead of in forty separate WhatsApp chats. It also takes the replies, so the number for the wedding breakfast is not scattered across texts, emails and a reply card that never came back.

Wedvite folds the website into the invitation rather than sending guests to a second site. The link opens as an animated envelope, and the same page carries the order of the day, a map button for each venue, travel and hotel notes, a gallery, your story and the reply form. There is no separate address to print and no second login to manage, and anything you change after sending, from a later arrival time to a new hotel note, appears for every guest at the same link.

How do you handle day guests and evening guests on one site?

Plainly: one site shows the same page to everyone who opens it, and Wedvite has no setting that hides the ceremony from an evening guest. So the choice comes down to two set-ups. Either list the whole day for everyone, or give the evening list a second invitation of its own in the same design, with the evening times, the evening venue's taxi numbers and its own replies; our page on evening wedding invitations, linked below, walks through that decision.

Plus-ones work the same way on both. The RSVP settings let you limit each reply to anywhere between 1 and 50 people, one limit for the whole invitation. Each reply names the people coming, so a stray name in the headcount is easy to spot and ask about before the seating plan goes to the venue.

What does it cost compared with a free website builder?

Several builders are free. The Knot and Joy publish a wedding website with online RSVP at no cost, RSVPify's free tier covers one event of up to 100 guests with email invitations, and Wix is free if you accept a wixsite.com address and a Wix banner. Squarespace has no free plan, only a 14-day trial, then Basic at 25 US dollars a month. The catch with the free sites is the invitation: The Knot sells no digital invitation at all, and Joy's free cards have no envelope, so the website and the invitation usually come from two places.

There are British builders too. GettingMarried, Bridebook, My Wedding Site and Ode all offer wedding websites to UK couples. We have not priced or reviewed them, because none of them is on the price sheet we checked on 15 September 2026, so we name them rather than grade them; our comparison of UK wedding website builders, linked below, does the same.

What will a Wedvite wedding website not do?

It will not give you a custom domain: the address is a wedvite.net link, which is the one you paste into WhatsApp anyway. There is no gift registry; a gifts section can show bank details for a honeymoon fund instead, with your own labels so a UK guest sees Sort code and Account number. And we never message your guests. The link goes out from your own phone or email, which is why it arrives as a message from you rather than from a company.

It is not hosted for ever either. The site stays live through your wedding date and at least 90 days after, which covers the build-up, the day and the weeks of thank-yous and photo sharing afterwards. How much does a Wedvite wedding website cost in pounds?+

Can evening guests see a different page from day guests?+

Not on one invitation. Every guest sees the same page. If the evening list should see only the evening, make a second invitation in the same design with its own link, its own times and its own replies.

Can we put our sort code and account number on it?+

Yes, for a honeymoon fund or a contribution towards the day. The gifts section holds bank details under labels you write yourself, so a UK guest sees Sort code and Account number rather than IBAN and SWIFT. Or keep it to a gentle line in your own words, with no details at all.

Do we still need a website if we are posting paper invitations?+

It helps: the card carries the formal wording, and the site carries everything that changes, from the order of the day to the hotel and the last train. Print the link on the card, or use the poster image the builder makes, whose QR code opens the invitation once it is published.

Can we use our own domain name?+

No. Your wedding website lives on a wedvite.net link and we do not connect custom domains. Most guests open it from a WhatsApp message or a text, where the preview shows your envelope rather than the address, so the domain is rarely what they notice.
