Wedvite vs Joy: which should you use for your invitation?
Written by the Wedvite foundersPrices checked 15 September 2026
Wedvite's list price is $89. This code brings it to $49, applied automatically at checkout:
Joy is free, with a wedding website, registry and RSVP; if a plain digital card is enough, stay there. Wedvite costs $89 once and is only the invitation: an animated envelope on every design, then a venue map and RSVP on one link. You can keep Joy's registry and send a Wedvite invitation.

Competitor prices and features were read from the official pages on 15 September 2026: Joy (withjoy.com). A cell reading "not verified on 15 September 2026" means the vendor's page did not state that figure on that date, so we leave it out rather than guess. Competitor prices are in US dollars; Wedvite's row is our own price in your currency. Prices change; confirm on the vendor's page before you buy.
Who should pick which?
Pick Joy if
you want one free account for everything: website, registry, planning tools, unlimited guests and online RSVP, plus free Basic digital cards with no minimum order. You accept a card with no envelope, and that WhatsApp means pasting Joy's link into the chat yourself.
Pick Wedvite if
the invitation is the moment you care about. $89 once buys an animated envelope on every design, the venue map, schedule and RSVP on one page in 11 languages, and edits after sending. You give up a registry and a custom domain; Wedvite sells neither.
Is Joy free, and what does it charge for?
Yes for the essentials. The website, registry, planning tools and online RSVP cost $0, with no guest limit, and Basic Digital cards are free with no minimum order. Joy earns mainly when guests buy from the registry.
What Joy charges for: printed cards from $1.74 list each, Premium Digital card bundles (no published price, 50-card minimum), SMS sending to US and Canadian numbers, a one-time Messaging Plus purchase, and a custom domain at around $19.99 per year that forwards to the withjoy.com address rather than replacing it.
What does Wedvite add that Joy's free card does not?
The opening. Joy's free Basic card has no envelope; envelope colour and a reveal animation come only with paid Premium Digital cards. Every Wedvite design opens with an animated envelope, and the invitation page that follows carries the venue map, the day's schedule and the RSVP form. It costs $89 once, for unlimited guests.
Language and editing. A Wedvite invitation can be written in 11 languages, Arabic right to left included, and shown in two languages on one link. Changes made after sending appear on the same link, so nothing has to be sent twice.
What does Joy do that Wedvite does not?
Most of the wedding admin, and for free. Joy builds a full wedding website, runs a registry, and gives you planning tools and a mobile app. Wedvite does none of that: there is no registry, no custom domain and no multi-page site, only the invitation page. If you need one tool for the whole wedding, Joy is the better answer.
Can you use Joy and Wedvite together?
Yes, and it is a sensible split. Keep Joy for the website and registry, and send a Wedvite invitation as the thing guests open first. In Wedvite's RSVP settings, choose "Link to my RSVP page" and paste your Joy RSVP address: the invitation then shows one RSVP button that opens Joy, so every reply lands on one guest list.
Prefer to collect replies in Wedvite? Leave its built-in RSVP on and use Joy only for the registry. Wedvite has no registry button, so write the registry address as plain text in the gifts section or put it in the message you send with the link. Our RSVP link guide shows the setup.
How do guests receive each one?
Joy emails invitations free; its own text messages are a paid add-on for US and Canadian numbers, and anything else means pasting Joy's link into WhatsApp, Messenger or social media yourself. Wedvite makes that link the main route: you paste it into WhatsApp, a text or an email from your own phone, it unfurls into a preview card, and replies come back to your dashboard.
What do Joy and Wedvite cost for 100 guests?
Joy: $0 on free Basic cards, or printed cards from $1.74 list each; Premium Digital bundles have no published price. Wedvite: $89 once, the same for 100 guests or 300, or $139 with every add-on (your own song, a wax seal, a venue sketch and a second language). You can design for free and share with your first 10 guests before you pay; see pricing.
