Minted alternatives for online wedding invitations
Written by the Wedvite foundersPrices checked 15 September 2026
Minted's Online Invitations cost nothing: a static single-page card with RSVP, sent by email or a copied link, alongside a free wedding website. There is no envelope or reveal animation. Wedvite is $89 once for unlimited guests: an envelope that opens to music, a venue map and RSVP on one link you send yourself.
Are Minted online invitations free?
Yes. Minted is known for paper, and it gives the digital side away: 1,131 free Online Invitation designs, each with RSVP collection, and a free wedding website next to them. In Minted's words: “Free wedding websites include multiple layouts, event RSVPs, gift registries, maps and directions, a wedding party page, guest accommodations”. Everything Minted charges for in digital is a flat extra, never a fee per guest. These are the figures on Minted’s own help centre on 15 September 2026:
- Online Invitation (digital invitation)Free (per invitation design, emailed or shared by link; no per-guest fee published)
- Free Wedding Website (tier 1 of 3)Free (per wedding website, no purchase necessary)
- Custom URL Upgrade (tier 2 of 3)$15 USD (per year, per website (published rate is the renewal rate; also described as a '$15 value'))
- Original Artwork Wedding Website (tier 3 of 3)Starts at $270 (one-time; includes an upgrade to a Custom URL)
- Wedding Concierge live working session$49 (one-time paid service; includes a complimentary Custom URL upgrade described as a $15 value (a separate free…)
One caution on the zero: it means nothing Minted publishes charges for an online invitation, not that a price list says zero. On 15 September 2026 we found no price and no guest cap in any of its Online Invitations articles. On price, Minted beats every row in the table below, Wedvite included.
What does a Minted online invitation look like to guests?
A single page of artwork. Minted's official guest-facing demo is configured as one page with static images and no envelope, reveal or video, and the help center caps personalization at color themes and section edits. It is the online version of a printed card: a lovely design, viewed rather than opened.
Sending is by email from Minted or by a link you copy. The help center documents no text-message or WhatsApp channel; you paste the link into those yourself, and the link route does not email guests for you. That is the same way Wedvite works — the difference is what the guest sees when they tap.
With Wedvite the link opens on a sealed envelope. One tap opens it, the design's music starts, and the guest scrolls through your names, the day's timings, a venue map and the RSVP form. Our guide to wedding invitations with music shows how the song and the envelope work together.
How do Minted and its alternatives compare for 100 guests?
Minted: Free ($0). The others charge per recipient, per guest-count band, or — in our case — one $89 price that does not move with the list.
| Service | Price model | Cost for 100 guests | Free tier | RSVP | Animated envelope | WhatsApp / text delivery | Ad-free for guests |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minted | Free Online Invitations and a free wedding website; flat paid extras only (custom address, concierge session, artwork site) | Free ($0) | Yes — Free wedding websites include multiple layouts, event RSVPs, gift registries, maps and directions, a wedding party page, guest accommodations | Yes | No | Partly | Partly |
| Bliss & Bone | Charged per recipient on a three-step volume ladder, with the wedding website as a separate monthly subscription | $90 (100 × $0.90) for the invitation send, plus $15–$21/mo if you also want the website | Partly — Customize any design fully and preview the exact invitation your guests will receive before you spend anything. | Yes | No | Yes | Yes |
| Greenvelope | A flat price per mailing that steps up with each guest-count band; free trial for up to 10 people | $99 (flat, one mailing) | Partly — Send greeting cards to up to 10 people for free in trial mode. Any mailing or invitation sent to more than 10 people will require an upgrade. | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Paperless Post | Pay per event in Coins, per recipient, across four feature sets | ≤ $105 Premium (≤ $50 Basic, ≤ $144 All Access) — upper bounds, not a checkout total | Yes — the first 50 invitations sent via email or phone number directly through the Paperless Post site can be sent without purchase | Yes | Yes | Partly | Yes |
| Wedvite | $89 flat, paid once, unlimited guests, no per-guest fee | $89 | Partly — design everything free and share with your first 10 guests; pay once to publish for everyone | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Minted is the only row that costs nothing at 100 guests; Paperless Post, Greenvelope and Wedvite each have a free tier, but each is capped. Where the rows split is the envelope column: Minted and Bliss & Bone send a flat card, while Greenvelope, Paperless Post (from Premium) and Wedvite open from an animated envelope. Neither Minted nor Wedvite texts guests for you; both give you a link to share.
Wedvite's list price is $89. This code brings it to $49, applied automatically at checkout:
What changes if you switch from Minted to Wedvite?
You pay $89 instead of nothing, and you lose two things Minted bundles: a gift registry and a custom web address. Wedvite has neither — the invitation lives on a wedvite.net link — so a couple who wants the registry and the RSVP on the same free site should stay with Minted.
What you gain is an invitation that behaves like an event rather than a card. It opens from an animated envelope with music, then carries the day: a schedule, the venue on a map with a link for each extra location, a photo gallery, a gift section with your bank details or a note, and an RSVP that asks each guest's name and meal and collects dietary notes. You set how many people each reply may include, so a guest cannot add a crowd.
It also reads in 11 languages, including right-to-left Arabic, with your first language included and a switch on the invitation for guests to change language. The invitation stays editable on the same link after it is sent and is hosted through your wedding date and at least 90 days after. See Wedvite pricing or the FAQ.
When is Minted still the better pick?
When you are already buying Minted paper and the digital card is simply a free extra. Nothing on top is a strong reason, and no flat-price service beats free.
Minted also wins if the wedding website matters more than the invitation: a registry, a wedding-party page, accommodation details and a custom address at $15 USD a year are things Wedvite does not do. For a fully bespoke look, its original-artwork website (Starts at $270) and the $49 concierge session are options we do not offer either.
Choose Wedvite when the moment of opening is the point — an envelope, music, the venue a tap away — or when guests read in two languages, or when you want to cap how many people each reply can bring. Our round-up of digital wedding invitation platforms puts both on the same columns.
