Wedding RSVP meal choice: every guest picks a meal when they reply
Written by the Wedvite founders
Turn on meal choice in the RSVP and write your own options, such as beef, fish and vegetarian. Each person in a party gets their own card with a name field, meal choice and dietary boxes. Your RSVP dashboard then counts the meals for the caterer, so nobody types totals from a stack of replies.
Wedvite's list price is $89. This code brings it to $49, applied automatically at checkout:

What the meal question collects
Your menu, your words
Start from beef, chicken, fish and vegetarian, then rename, add or remove options until they match the caterer's menu.
One choice per person
A guest replying for four adds four cards, and each person in the party gets their own card with a name field, meal choice and dietary boxes.
See it →Allergies as tick boxes
Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, nut, shellfish and sesame allergies, halal and kosher, plus up to ten options of your own.
A count for the caterer
The dashboard totals each dish across every reply and lists who chose what, updated as answers arrive.

Open the RSVP section in the editor and choose the full RSVP form, which asks for each guest's name, meal and dietary needs. Meal choice is switched on there by default. Open the meal options and type your caterer's dishes in place of the four starter options; you can have two choices or six, and the order you set is the order guests see in the drop-down.
Then pick which dietary boxes to show. Leave the common ones, add the sesame allergy if your menu uses it, and write up to ten of your own, such as no pork or low FODMAP. You can also add an Other box for anything you did not foresee. Each guest's answers stay attached to their name, not to the household as a whole.
Can each guest in a household choose a different meal?
Yes. When one person replies for a party, each person in it gets their own card with a name field, meal choice and dietary boxes. A family of four with one coeliac child and one vegetarian parent arrives on your dashboard as four guests, each with their own dish and needs, which is exactly how the caterer and the seating plan need it. Nobody has to explain in a message who wanted what.
Children can be marked as children, which keeps the adult and child counts apart for the venue, since many caterers price a child's plate differently. If a guest replies twice from the same phone number or email, the newer answer replaces the older one in your totals, so a late change of mind from fish to beef does not count two dinners. Guests can simply reply again when their plans change.
How do I get the meal counts to the caterer?
Open your RSVP dashboard. It shows how many guests are attending, the adult and child split, and a meal tally with each dish and its count, plus a table of every reply with the meals chosen by each person in it. That tally is the number the caterer asks for, and it updates as replies arrive, so you can send provisional numbers early and final ones after your RSVP deadline without recounting anything.
There is also a CSV export for your spreadsheet. It carries each reply's names, party size, dietary needs and allergies, song requests and messages; the meal tally itself stays on the dashboard, so copy the totals from there when you send final numbers. Allergy labels appear in English, Arabic, German, Italian, Spanish and Swedish; in other invitation languages those labels fall back to English while the rest of the form is translated.
