Venue illustration wedding invitations: your venue, drawn in line art
Written by the Wedvite founders
Send a photo of your venue and we turn it into a line-art illustration in a hand-drawn style that heads the venue section of your invitation, above the name and the map. The venue sketch is $15, made after you order. Prefer something free? Keep a drawing in the design's style, or show your photo exactly as it is.
Wedvite's list price is $89. This code brings it to $49, applied automatically at checkout:

Three ways to show your venue
Line art from your photo
Upload one good photo of the building and we turn it into line art for $15, after you order.
Your photo, as it is
Upload a venue photo and it shows exactly as taken, at no extra cost.
A drawing in the design's style
Choose the theme style and the venue section keeps an illustration that matches the design, at no cost.

The illustration heads the venue section, so the picture, the venue's name and the map button sit together.
See it →What is a venue illustration on a wedding invitation?
A drawing of the place you are marrying in, made from a photo and turned into fine line art in warm ink. On paper invitations it is a printed extra; on a digital invitation it takes the place of the stock building at the top of the venue section, so the first thing guests see when they reach the venue is a drawing of the actual chapel, villa or hotel.
It works because a building is often what guests remember: the barn with the long roof, the white house on the hill. As line art rather than a photograph, it is made to suit your design and does not look like a hotel listing. Below it come the venue's name, the town, the start time and the map, so the picture and the directions sit together and guests recognise the place when they arrive.
What photo should I send for the sketch?
One clear photo of the outside of the building, taken straight on or from a slight angle, in daylight. The front entrance or the view guests will recognise on arrival is usually best. Avoid shots full of people, cars or scaffolding, and choose the widest view you have, because the drawing follows the photo and cannot invent a wing that is out of frame.
Turn it on from the card under the map field in the venue step, then upload the photo in Extras. You can use a picture from the venue's own website or one you took on a visit. We make the sketch from it after you order and add the finished sketch to your invitation; until then, the venue section keeps the design's default picture.
How much does a venue sketch cost?
The venue sketch is an add-on at $15, on top of the invitation at $49, which you pay once. Showing your own photo of the venue costs nothing, and neither does keeping a drawing in the design's style. There is no charge per guest who sees it, and the sketch stays on your invitation for as long as the invitation is hosted.
The sketch is chosen on the venue step and paid for with the invitation, alongside any other extras such as a custom wax seal or your own song; each one is separate. Your invitation can be shared as soon as you order, and the drawing replaces the default picture once it is finished, on the same link, without anything new to send.
