How does a digital wedding invitation work?
You choose a design, type your own wording into it, and add your photographs, the venue, the timings and the RSVP. What you get back is a single web address. A guest taps it in a chat, an envelope opens on their phone, and the invitation plays out as one page: your names, the date, where each part of the evening happens, a map pin that opens in their own maps app, what to wear, and a button to reply. There is nothing to download and no account to create.
Unlike a printed card, it can still change after it has gone out. A hall that moves the start time, a second venue for the women's celebration, a new parking note — you edit it once and every guest who opens the same link sees the correction. Nothing is reprinted, nobody is sent an apologetic second message, and a published invitation stays live through your wedding date and at least 90 days after, so it is still there when a guest checks the time on the day itself.
How do you send a wedding invitation on WhatsApp in the UAE?
You paste the link into the chat with a line of your own above it. In the Emirates that is not one channel among several — it is how a wedding guest list is actually reached: the family group, the office group, the cousins abroad. The link unfurls into a preview with your names on it, so it looks like an invitation rather than a stray URL, and a guest can forward it to a spouse without anything breaking.
It matters more here than almost anywhere else because the guest list rarely lives in one country. The UAE is overwhelmingly expatriate, so the same invitation goes to colleagues in Dubai, parents in another continent and friends who will fly in for the week. A link opens the same way for all of them, the same day, with no courier and no customs. Can one invitation be in English and Arabic?
Yes, and for most UAE weddings that is the point. An Emirati family inviting colleagues from abroad, a mixed Arab and European couple, a family whose grandparents read Arabic first and whose friends read only English — the guest list shares no single language. The invitation carries a language switch: each guest reads a complete version in the language they pick, from the same link, and every reply arrives in one RSVP list rather than two.
Arabic is not a translated afterthought. Can the invitation show separate men's and women's receptions?
Yes. Many Emirati weddings, and plenty of other Gulf and Arab families' weddings in the UAE, hold the men's and women's celebrations separately — sometimes in two halls of the same venue, sometimes across town, often on the same night. All 14 Gulf designs have a separate-receptions layout for exactly this: switch it on and the invitation shows two cards, each with its own name, hall, start time and map link.
The cards read “Men's Reception” and “Women's Reception” by default and can be renamed to whatever your families call them, in English and in Arabic. The dress-code section has a men's line and a women's line, so each side's note sits on its own card.
What it does not do is worth saying plainly. It is one invitation and one link, sent to everyone — not two links, one per hall — and replies come back as one guest list rather than two separate counts. How do RSVPs give the hall a final number?
A guest reaches the end of the invitation and taps yes or no — no account, no password, nothing to install. With named guests switched on, each person on an invitation answers for themselves; with meal choices or a dietary question switched on, they answer those in the same few taps. Your dashboard shows a live headcount, and the list exports to CSV for the banqueting team.
That number carries real weight here. UAE halls and hotels commonly price per head and attach a minimum spend or a minimum guest count, so the final figure you confirm is the bill. Planning a Dubai wedding: hotel, beach or hall?
All three, and the invitation has to suit whichever you pick. Dubai weddings spread between the big hotel ballrooms, beach and island resorts along the coast, desert resorts inland, and the halls where the largest Emirati and Arab weddings take place. A beach ceremony wants the tide-line practicalities on the invitation — footwear, a sunset start time, where to park; a desert venue wants the transfer on the schedule, because the drive out is part of the evening; a hall with two receptions wants the two-card layout above.
Which evening of the week is yours to choose, and couples choose differently. Whichever it is, write the day out in words on the invitation, and check your dates against Ramadan before you commit: it currently falls inside the cooler months, when evenings are comfortable enough to eat outside, and it moves about eleven days earlier each year.
