Wedding invitation messages for WhatsApp, ready to copy
Written by the Wedvite founders
A good WhatsApp wedding invitation message is three or four short lines: who is inviting, the date and place, a nudge to tap, then the link on its own line so the envelope preview appears. Below are eight messages to copy, from formal to family group, each ending where your Wedvite invitation link goes.
Wedvite's list price is $89. This code brings it to $49, applied automatically at checkout:

The preview card dresses the message
WhatsApp draws a card under your words with your envelope picture, your names and the wedding date, so even a two-line message looks finished.
See it →Replies go to the invitation, not the chat
Guests RSVP on the page, so the family group stays for congratulations and your headcount sits on one list.
See it →Wishes collected in one place
Guests leave a message for you on the invitation itself, kept together instead of scattered across every chat.
See it →A free poster for your status
The editor makes a portrait poster with your names, date and a QR code that opens the invitation, ready for a WhatsApp status.
What should a WhatsApp wedding invitation message say?
Less than you think, because the invitation carries the details. The message only has to say who is inviting, what for, when, and to tap. Long paragraphs push the preview card out of view and get skimmed on a phone. Write in the voice your family actually uses with each other: a formal line for elders, a lighter one for friends, and your own language where that is how the group talks.
The eight messages below run in this order: formal, casual, family group, friends, reminder, RSVP nudge, save the date and the day before. Each ends with the link on its own line, which keeps the preview card directly under your words. Swap in your names, dates and places, keep the lines short, and paste your invitation link where it says so. The same invitation link goes at the end of every message after the save the date, because it always shows the latest version. Wedvite never sends these for you; you send them from your own WhatsApp.

What should go before the link so the preview looks right?
Put your words first and the link last, on its own line. WhatsApp reads the link as you type and builds a card with your envelope picture, the title "You're invited" with your names, and a line with your wedding date. Wait a second for that card to appear above the text box before pressing send. If you send too quickly, the message goes as a plain link, which still opens the invitation but looks less like one.
Include the names and the date in your own words even though the card shows them, because some guests read notifications on a locked screen where the card is hidden. A short "tap to open" helps older relatives, who may not realise the picture is the invitation. Avoid a second link in the same message: WhatsApp previews only one, and it may not be yours.
Should you send it to a group or to each guest?
Both work, because every guest gets the same link and every reply goes to the same list. A family group is quick and suits relatives who expect the news together. Individual messages feel more personal and avoid a stream of congratulations reaching everyone. Many couples do both: one message in the family group, then separate messages to friends, colleagues and anyone not in a group.
A WhatsApp broadcast list sends your message to each person privately, but it only reaches people who have saved your number, so check before relying on it. Whichever route you use, the RSVP form controls numbers: you set the most people one reply can include and a deadline, and naming who is invited in your message does the rest. Forwarded copies reach the same list, so you will see any unexpected reply by name.
When should each message go out?
Send the save the date as soon as the date and city are fixed, the invitation once the venue, times and RSVP deadline are settled, and the RSVP nudge a few days before that deadline, only to people missing from your reply list. The reminder fits a week or two before the wedding, and the day-before message goes out the evening before, when people are planning their route.
Because the link never changes, every message after the save the date can point to the same invitation, and it will always show the latest version. If you change a time between the invitation and the reminder, edit it first, then say so in the reminder so guests know to look again. Guests who saved the chat can scroll back to your first message on the wedding morning and still land on the current schedule and map.
