Planning a wedding in Ibiza
The legal position catches couples out: UK government guidance on marrying in Spain states that one of you must live in Spain or hold Spanish nationality, so foreign couples marry legally at home and hold a symbolic ceremony here. July and August are the island's club season, when villa rates, flights and staffing all peak, and several venues attach a minimum stay to the booking — two nights at Petunia, three at Ca Na Xica and Can Gall, four at Can Frare — which quietly raises the real cost; Can Gall goes further and will only run an event if you take the whole hotel. The fincas sit on unlit country roads a long way from town, so coach transfers rather than taxis are the normal arrangement for guests.
- When to marry — May, June, September and the first half of October give warm evenings for outdoor dining without the July–August heat, club-season pricing and accommodation squeeze.
- What it costs — Published starting figures run from roughly €9,000 to €22,000 for a venue-and-catering package at the fincas and mid-range hotels, with the design-led properties well above that — Petunia is quoted from about €74,000 — and every one of those numbers moves with guest count, season and whether catering is inside the figure or billed per head.
Once the venue is settled, the next thing most couples deal with is telling everyone. A digital wedding invitation carries the address, a map, your timings and a live RSVP on one link — which matters more than usual when guests are travelling to Ibiza and need directions, and plenty of notice.
