Two acres of walled garden sit behind the 1819 William Scarbrough House, a National Historic Landmark and one of the earliest Greek Revival houses in the South, designed by the English architect William Jay. The rental covers the whole compound: the brick terrace and latticed pavilion in the Scarbrough Garden where most ceremonies happen, and the North Garden beyond it with a maple grove, a vine-covered pergola and a copper-roofed assembly room that seats 250 for dinner. It is the largest private garden in the historic district, which is the practical reason couples book it over a house museum with a courtyard.
