Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark
Industrial landmark32nd Street North, east of downtownUp to 900 across the site
Pig iron came out of these blast furnaces from 1882 until 1971, and the plant has been a museum ever since — the only preserved blast furnace in the country and a National Historic Landmark since 1981. Couples rent by the space rather than the whole site: Cast Shed #1 is covered and open-air with a 40-by-40-foot stage and a clear view of the stacks, the East Room is the largest indoor option, and the Spray Pond and the 70-foot Water Tower Plaza handle ceremonies outside. Rust, rivets and steelwork do the decorating, so a flower budget goes further here than almost anywhere else in the city. Bookings run through the city's events office rather than a private operator.
